Everybody might be thinking what Am I talking about, but it’s true, you do not need to spend top dollars to get a movie theater experience at your home nowadays, and looking at the current situation it’s not safe to go to a theater to watch a movie. There is a vast selection of projectors available on amazon to choose from without breaking the bank and the picture quality of these projectors is not at all bad for the price. Not a long ago I picked one for myself- Vankyo V600.

I recently bought one for myself and thought that I should share the experience. It’s from a Company called Vankyo and the model is V600.

So, how good is it?

This is my honest review of the Vankyo v600, It works perfectly for me, I was confused between buying a 50″ TV or a Projector for my room. I never owned a projector so, I was not so sure about, what to get or what to look for in a projector, and I did not want to spend too much money on it either. So, I looked on Amazon and found this Projector the price was amazing for what I was getting and I was going to get a lot bigger screen than that of a TV.

So, I made up my mind and placed an order and received it in a day. Excited!!

Opened up the package. Initial thoughts- Built quality is pretty Decent.it’s all plastic but the black and silver finish makes it look premium, set it up (setting it up is really easy), plugged my laptop into the projector, turned it on, and adjusted the focus. I was surprised after looking at Such a big picture and the quality was not that bad, Colors were a bit washed out but after making some adjustments to the picture settings it was better. Sound quality from a 5-watt speaker is surprisingly good for a small room but you have the option to plug in the externals speakers with the 3.5mm jack.

Vankyo V600 comes with a Remote control which is IR but works surprisingly good even if you do not point it directly towards the Projector. I have set it up 13 feet away from the wall and it projects a 105″ screen and quality is incredible according to the price I paid but the picture tends to lose the quality if you go above the 105–110″ screen size. So, It is pretty good for the living room and even the bedroom. Fan noise is something which you have to deal with as it is quite noticeable in a small room.

It is not a smart projector but it has 2 HDMI ports so you can plug in Firestick or a Chromecast device which makes it smart enough to enjoy all the streaming services which are available.

Good news for Casual gamer, If you want to use it for your PlayStation or Xbox then you can definitely do it. Played Call of duty MW, Forza Horizon 4, and did not see any lag. I am not a hardcore gamer so it was a wonderful experience for me as I do not look for every minute detail and if you are like me then you will definitely enjoy it.

Color accuracy is not good as compared to the TV but you can make it better using the below calibrations. But, if your sole purpose is to have a big-screen experience on a budget then it won’t disappoint you for the price under CAD 300 and if you leave a review on amazon they give you an option to get a $50 Amazon gift card. All this definitely makes it a good option for your first projector.

Picture calibration profile:

Contrast-25, Brightness-55, Color-55, Sharpness-40

Color temperature: Red- 80, Green: 45, Blue- 100.

Pros:

Inexpensive, good lamp life, comes with a remote controller, HDMI cable is included, the picture quality is amazing for the price, Sound quality is amazing, comes with a Carrying case, Fast to turn on and off.

Cons:

Loud Fan noise, Focus in the corners is not great, Keystone adjustment does not help at all, Reds look dull (looks more like pink), pairing other remotes for example fire TV remote or your audio system remote to control the volume and power does not work.

Overall, it’s a good purchase. If it’s your first time buying a projector and you do not want to spend a lot of money then do not hesitate and go for it. you won’t regret it.
